The Lethbridge Twinning Society hosted of the 2007 Alberta Twinned Municipalities Conference. On September 14th and 15th of 2007, representatives from Alberta ’s 18 municipalities that enjoy twinning relationships with municipalities in Japan visited our city. In addition, many representatives from Alberta’s sister cities in Japan attended.

The next event of the Lethbridge Twinning Society is our very first PLENARY SESSION REGARDING GLOBALIZATION AND CITIZEN DIPLOMACY. This will be held on March 29, 2007 (6:30PM)in the Theater Gallery at the Lethbridge Public Library. This plenary session is open to all, and there is no admission cost. We have a slate of speakers from around the globe who will be speaking regarding how our world is changing and how people are adapting to new location life styles as well as how our lives are changing on a day to day basis. Key Note speakers are Dr. Anthony Hall (University of Lethbridge, Globalization Studies) and Dr. Daniel Zopoula (Bridges of Hope); Elma Guinto (Flexibility Learning Systems); Lucy Fedorets; Ron Wiggers; Yoshitaka Kinjo; Chuck LeBlanc amd a special guest speaker, a refuge from Afganistan will round out the slate of interesting an informative speakers. There will be an opportunity for questions and answers in a panel forum after the speeches. The plenary session has been named "Lethbridge and National Globalism"

The Lethbridge Twinning Society, Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at 7:00PM. Location, Culver City Room, Lethbridge City Hall. All active members, please plan to attend this meeting as there will be elections of directors and votes on Motions proposed to amend our constitution and by-laws. Your voice is importantant.
